- ALLEY DRIVER 1.0
-
-
- Alley Driver is a fast paced driving game. Like most car games,
-
- the object is relatively simple; drive as fast and as far as you can.
-
- But this race takes place in an alley, leaving your car's lateral movements
-
- limited by a pair of walls.
-
- In addition to the narrow racecourse, you have to contend with several
-
- difficulties. Unkindly (and messy!) neighbors have left trash cans strewn
-
- randomly about. Also, many unsightly (and slippery!) oil spills make the
-
- alley slick. Furthermore, there happen to be several other cars racing
-
- down the alley with you. As if all this wasn't enough, your car is a gas
-
- guzzler; you must get gas at reqular intervals or stop dead in your tracks.
-
- But there are several sliver linings to this dark cloud. The top and
-
- bottom edges of the alley slow you down, but do not destroy your car.
-
- Additionally, neither trash cans nor other cars can enter them. Fuel cells
-
- appear frequently but are even more prevalent when you're running out of
-
- gas. Lastly, there are rest-stops at regular intervals.
-
- Still, all of this adds up to a difficult race course. But its possible
-
- for those who have the concentration, reflexes and determination to become an..

-
-
- The objects are as follows:
-
- Red Your car
- White Trash cans
- Pink Enemy cars
- Green Fuel cells
- Dark Gray Oil slicks
-
- There are two diffenent sets of controls you can use. One set has
-
- the UP and DOWN controls widely seperated. The other has them very
-
- close together. You can toggle to the mode you want with the S key.
-
- Avoid trash cans. Avoid oil slicks which have trash cans in them or
-
- immediately past them. And avoid enemy cars at all costs; the game ends
-
- upon hitting one.
-
- Alley Driver requires a EGA or VGA monitor. A memory of
-
- 256K is also needed. The program runs quite well at 12mhz on a 386-SX.
-
- Faster speeds render the game even more challenging. Slower speeds will
-
- make the game longer but still challenging at high levels.
-
- To run the program, simply type ALLEY at the dos prompt.
-
- Be sure to register your game. Those who do so will automatically
-
- recieve any version upgrades. For details on how to register, see the
-
- catalog available when you guit the program.
-
- Alley Driver was programmed in Turbo Pascal. If you are a Pascal
-
- programmer and are interested in the program, I will send you a copy of the
-
- source code. Just mention this with your registration and return address.
